Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 24, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what FYP AI ("the app", "we", "us") collects and how it's used. FYP AI works without an account by default, and we try to collect the minimum needed to make the app work.

No sign-up required
FYP AI does not require your name, email, or phone number to use the app. On first launch the app generates a random, anonymous device identifier and stores it on your device. This identifier is sent to our server with every request so we can apply usage limits and keep your generated content associated with your device. On its own, it is not tied to your real identity by us.

Optional sign-in with Apple
You can optionally sign in with Apple from the app's Settings. If you do, we receive and store the anonymous user identifier Apple issues for this app, and the email address only if you choose to share it (Apple lets you hide it behind a private relay address instead). We use this solely to link the devices you sign in on, so that your saved history follows you between them, and never for marketing. Signing in also causes the data listed below to be stored against that identifier rather than only against a single device. You can sign out at any time from Settings, which unlinks the app on that device.

What we collect and why

• Quiz answers and TikTok handle. When you complete the onboarding profile quiz, your answers (platform, niche, goals, posting frequency, account size) and the public TikTok handle you enter are sent to our server. We use this information, together with an AI model (Anthropic's Claude), to generate your profile report, coaching replies, and content ideas. Because the handle you provide is a public social media handle, treat it the same way you would treat sharing it anywhere else.

• Optional TikTok account connection. If you choose to connect your TikTok account, TikTok's own authorization screen asks for your permission, and we store the resulting access and refresh tokens on our server, associated with your device identifier. We use them only to read your public profile information and the list of your own videos with their view, like, comment and share counts, so the app can analyze your real numbers and track your progress. We never post on your behalf. You can disconnect at any time from the app's Settings, which deletes those tokens from our server, and you can also revoke access from within TikTok.

• Draft video analysis. When you analyze a draft video, the app processes the video entirely on your device: it extracts a handful of still frames and, separately, generates a text transcript using on-device speech recognition. Only those still frames (as compressed images) and the text transcript are uploaded to our server for analysis. The video file itself, and its audio track, never leave your device.

• Coach chat messages. Messages you send to the in-app coach, along with your quiz answers and report, are sent to our server and processed by Claude to generate a reply.

• Usage data stored server-side. To let the app work without an account, we store the results tied to your device identifier: your profile report, generated ideas/scripts/hooks/captions, draft video analyses, and your coach chat history. This is what allows your history to persist across app launches. If you signed in with Apple, that same history (your quiz answers, report, saved ideas and draft analyses, including the real view counts you enter yourself) is also stored against your Apple user identifier so it can be restored on your other devices. We do not sell this data, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.

• Subscription data. Purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment details (card numbers, billing address). We may receive confirmation from Apple or our subscription infrastructure that a device holds an active subscription, tied to the same anonymous device identifier.

• Diagnostic data. Like most apps, standard crash and performance diagnostics may be collected through Apple's platform tools. We don't operate any separate analytics or advertising SDK.

Third parties
We use the following services to operate the app:
• Anthropic (Claude), which processes quiz answers, draft video frames and transcripts, and chat messages to generate reports, analyses, and replies.
• TypeSafe (Jev), which receives the text the app generates for you and your draft transcripts, without your device identifier or handle, to check that text for invented statistics or promised results and to measure a few properties of your drafts. It does not generate content and does not train on this data.
• Apple (App Store, StoreKit / RevenueCat), which handles subscription purchases and billing, and Sign in with Apple if you choose to use it.
• TikTok, if you choose to connect your TikTok account, for the authorization step and for reading your own profile and video statistics.
• MongoDB Atlas and Vercel, which host our database and our servers.

We do not sell your data to third parties, and we do not share it for third-party advertising purposes.

Your choices
If you never sign in, your data is tied to your device and app install: there is no password to reset. Uninstalling the app removes the local identifier from that device, and if you reinstall, a new anonymous identifier is generated, so prior history tied to the old identifier will no longer be accessible to you. If you signed in with Apple, signing out from Settings unlinks that device, and you can also revoke the app's access from your Apple ID settings. To have server-side data deleted, whether it is tied to a device identifier or to your Apple user identifier, contact us at the email below and we will identify and remove it.

Children
FYP AI is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
